CALLIGRAPHY JOURNAL #1

Calligraphy-Journal-Header.jpg

Hello! I’m back to my blog bringing some fresh news. I’ve decided to start a new series of posts called Calligraphy Journal, in order to record and share with you my evolution and improvements as a calligrapher. The idea is to publish new content every Monday, showing you the exercises and practices I’ve done the week before. Let's start with this first issue. Last week I mainly focused on improving my roman capitals, this is for me one of the most difficult hands in calligraphy due to its simplicity and difficult execution on the serifs. Being so simple means that every mistake is clearly visible, so there's no place to distractions. You will see on the following images some exercises done with brush and a copule of variations using metallic nibs and playing with pressures. Also, you can find a small blackletter exploration and an expressive practice made with colapen.

See you next Monday!
