Lettering tradition from a contemporary point of view.
Hi! I’m Joan Quirós, an independent calligrapher and lettering designer based in Valencia, Spain, where I work for the rest of the world.
As a letterforms enthusiast, I started to get interested in them during my teenage years, passion which became reinforced in the course of the Graphic Design Degree which I studied in my home town.
Since I decided in 2013 to immerse myself in the world of letters, both written and drawn, I’ve been expanding my knowledge and skills, learning from some of the most recognised masters. Therefore, I have a great respect for the historical tradition of writing and lettering, paying special attention to the details on their shapes, creating a nexus between the past and the present, applying my contemporary perspective and personal background on each of the projects I develop.
My skills have allowed me to help brands, institutions and companies of international trajectory to improve their communication with their customers through letterforms in the fields of advertising, editorial design, packaging and corporate identity, as well as the execution of exclusive and custom commissions.
